The Three Factions of GLANK:

...performs at assorted functions: clubs, corporate events, art galleries, outdoor festivals, private parties, etc... GLANK can accommodate any size venue, indoors or outdoors. See GLANK VIDEO and GLANK IMAGES...
These gigs include 5-15 anonymous performers, energetic music, and audience participation: playing instruments and wardrobe alteration. Instrument setups include numerous metalophones on metal racks, LP tanks of varying sizes placed throughout the venue, and assorted drums.
Unique instruments are "offered" to audience members as the gig progresses - some pieces include full audience jams. The audience also participates in the fun 'binary ostinato clapping patterns' during which they clap or play numeric patterns. The audience is also offered wardrobe alteration that assists in them becoming anonymous.
Video projection is employed as well: ambient material, short films, writings, and live video of the audience. VIdeo is often projected on the players' white Clean Room Suits for a truly unique and mesmerizing effect.
GLANK brings performance art together with alchemistic percussion and audience interaction for a truly unique sonic and visual experience.

2> GLANKthePRODUCT
INDUSTRIAL - PERCUSSIVE - ALCHEMY
...IS A 90-MINUTE MULTI-MEDIA PERCUSSION PERFORMANCE ART PIECE THAT INCLUDES EXTENSIVE AUDIENCE INTERACTION. Inspired by industrial sounds, found object, commercial absurdities and minimalist percussion, GLANK is conceived, written and directed by composer / instrument builder Paul H. Rudolph.
GLANKthePRODUCT is designed for a large, industrial space where the audience is surrounded by numerous elements, including music, sound design, video projection, spoken word, and unique lighting. 25 musicians, verbalists, and movementicians perform anonymously in Clean-Room-Suits highlighted by mathematical graphics.
GLANKthePRODUCT has no main stage, but rather separate stations that surround the audience. From these stations music, spoken word, pre-recorded sounds, and video elements will emanate. Video material includes film, images, projected lyrics and writings, and live video of the audience and performers. The audience is seated at table-like drums scattered throughout the space, so they can experience the elements from many angles.
Audience interaction is a key element of the piece, as they become part of "thePRODUCT". The audience is engaged in many ways, including instrument activation, instrument assembly, interactive lighting, and wardrobe alteration. In fact, the audience becomes anonymous as the piece progresses. By the end of the performance, 100 audience members and 25 performers are completely anonymous, thus blurring the line between the two groups.
Through many years of experience with musicians, students, and audiences, the composer, Paul Rudolph, has found that people become uninhibited when they are anonymous, feeling freer to perform. This is a key component in GLANK. In their anonymity, audience members are more comfortable as they play unknown instruments and execute 'binary ostinato clapping patterns", where they play numeric rhythms on tables, found objects, and shakers that they build in an "assembly line" during the performance.
