Notes on videos herein:

"What is GLANK?" - montage showing various gigs, audience participation, and unique GLANK instruments.

"Audience Shakers" - we hand out assorted shakers to audience members of all ages for fun-filled jams. It is a fun and easy way for the audience to physically participate. In the performance art piece GLANKthePRODUCT, the audience participates in assembling shakers in a mock-assembly line. The shaker contents include an item for a lighting effect.

"Metalophones 005" - an example of how we mix pre-recorded audio with live percussion.

"MotoArt1" - a montage from the Dec 2006 gig at the MotoArt Studios hangar in Torrance. 200 audience members. www.motoart.com

"5/4 32nd-note Samba" - an example of a more virtuosic percussion piece that will be featured in live performances and GLANKthePRODUCT.

This piece focuses on drum-corps style execution of 32-note patterns in the 6 tom parts, activated by Blasticks. The piece is accentuated by GLANK instruments: the Liquid Propanophones with glove activators, and the Tuned Saw Blades with Blasticks.

Performed by Paul Rudolph, Matt Altmire, and Michael Raynor.
Video edited by Alex Mackey

"Audience Jam" - an example of a full-on jam where audience members of all ages can play GLANK instruments. This video shows a fun gig at the Eagle Rock outdoor amphitheater. Far from a simplistic drumming 'circle', this type of tune includes energetic pre-recorded music, and takes place towards the end of our set.

"GLANK montage" - lo-fi footage from past gigs

"Audience BOCPs" - Binary Ostinato Clapping Patterns - I have been experimenting with numeric patterns and audience participation for a number of years, beginning over ten years ago with my music students. It has become an audience favorite at gigs.

Pattern number 1, in binary form would be listed as 101101110110. For audience BOCP's, we list this pattern as 1 - 12 - 123 - 12.

"GLANK instruments" - a montage showing some of the unique GLANK instruments created/built by Paul Rudolph: Metalophone Wall 01, assorted Liquid Propanophones and Smogophones, Microtonal tuned saw blades, mircotonal aluminum bars, shakers, and BOCPs.

"GLANK strike" - footage from the end of our Knitting Factory Hollywood set - sped-up and with humorous music added.

"CARAVAN for vibes" - imagine 6 vibraphone players playing this in unison... This is another example of a virtuosic percussion piece in GLANK. Vibraphone part and orchestral arrangement by Paul Rudolph. Performed by Rudolph at Leslie Carrara-Rudolph's show "Young At Heart".

"GLANK projection 01" - an excerpt from a metalophone moving montage shot by Michael Gullberg, edited and scored by Paul Rudolph. This style of footage is used as video projection during GLANK gigs.

"GLANK projection 02" - ditto

"GLANK at Knitting Factory" - part of a multi-stage, multi-performance-art event in Hollywood, the "Perfect Circus". This is an excerpt of "Oh Harry" with video projection shown behind the players.

"GLANK - the elusive Clean Room Man" - a short 'travelog' featuring Michael Raynor. Filmed at Tatta Vium, aka Vasquez State Park near Los Angeles. Originally named for the Indian tribe that lived there for over 1000 years. Sadly, it was renamed for a Spanish bandit who holed up there and drove out the natives.

"GLANK hummer commercial (demo)" - GLANK instruments are used exclusively in this work.

"Sammy & Sofa jump" - film by Tim Lagasse The score features some GLANK instruments such as Liquid Propanophones and saw blades...

"Marching Illini" - Minimalism is spelled out, or rather symbolized, in this excerpt of drill written by Paul Rudolph for 300 members of the University of Illinois Marching Illini.
(see GLANKtheHISTORY)

"Aluminum On The March" - an excerpt from a tune used in conjunction with video projection. The pre-recorded track is accompanied by live percussion. The film is an edit of public domain footage.

"Industrial Montage" - another example of video projection used at gigs (no audio). We often project these type of images directly on our white Clean Room Suits. (public domain footage)
